The Forever Resorts group certainly has its formula right, and one of the most popular resorts in their portfolio is Loskopdam.
Situated less than two hour’s drive from Johannesburg against the backdrop of the Waterberg Mountain range on the banks of the Loskop Dam, the resort provides a safe haven and loads of holiday fun for the whole family.

The resort has friendly and helpful reception staff who will give holidaymakers a detailed map of the resort to point them in the right direction.
There is a large camp and caravan area with over 250 sites with water and electricity. The stands are well-shaded with green lawns that stretch down to the water’s edge.
There are no fewer than seven ablution blocks which are neat and tidy, offering hot showers, basins and toilet facilities. If you need to do some washing, there is a laundromat that uses tokens.
Long-stay rates and terms can be obtained at reception.
Loskopdam is like a little town in its own right, with a shop, four cold pools and a large heated pool that I spent a lot of time in. It’s simply decadent to stretch your arms out as you float through the mist created by the heat rising from the pool. Getting out of the pool into the crisp morning air is the only challenge.
If camping or caravans are not your go-to holiday requirements, you can stay in the self-catering chalets, log cabins or houses they have available. They come in 2- and 4-sleeper log cabins, and 4-, 6- and 8-sleeper houses.
Loskop Dam itself belongs to the Department of Water Affairs and no swimming is allowed in the dam due to the presence of hippos and crocodiles. Fishing and boating is allowed on the dam. All the stands are within easy walking distance of the dam and there is a slipway to launch boats, for those avid fishermen.
There are numerous holiday activities for the whole family, including a tennis court, putt-putt, boat trips, walking trails and a children’s playpark with swings, slides, trampolines, and a seesaw.
A unique activity at Loskopdam is game viewing by boat. The resort is set amid pristine nature reserve that is home to leopard, crocodile, hippo and giraffe.
When hunger sets in, after all the activities, a licensed restaurant and pub offers great fare to fill your empty stomach. Enjoy a sundowner on the deck that overlooks the dam.
Alternatively, light a braai fire when you get back to your campsite as the sun dips below the horizon.
Forever Resorts Loskopdam’s access is through a security boom which is manned 24 hours a day, and there is a visible security presence throughout the resort to ensure the safety and security of holidaymakers. Day visitors are welcomed between 07h00 and 17h00.
Caution: Keep the doors of your caravan or chalet locked and closed when you go out, as there are vervet monkeys and baboons in the area that love to enjoy any snacks they can find.
Forever Resorts Loskopdam is the perfect all-in-one getaway, a tasty recipe that involves a variety of fun and relaxing opportunities for holidaymakers.
