A Decade of Celebration
The South African 4×4 & Outdoor Show has been hosting their outdoor event for the last 10 years, and this year marks its first-decade celebration in promoting the 4×4 & outdoor industry in and around Centurion and Pretoria. For many event-goers who have been supporting this show since 2014, you will know that when the event first launched, it was held at the iconic Voortrekker Monument. In 2016, as the show grew larger with more event exhibitors and attendees taking part, this popular 4×4 show then upgraded its location to the famous Zwartkops Raceway, which is a mere 10 km away from the Voortrekker Monument venue and around three times larger too.
Event Programme
Evolution of the Show
In 2021, after the COVID pandemic lapsed, the popular show returned to the iconic Voortrekker Monument for the following two consecutive years, as uncertainty surrounding the pandemic aftermath and show conditions imposed on attendees and exhibitor limitations had not yet fully recovered in Southern Africa.
Expanding Horizons
This year, we have been informed that successful talks and negotiations with Zwartkops Raceway have once again agreed to host this famous outdoor and leisure lifestyle show. And to quote a famous TV presenter Martin Bailey, from Telly-Fun-Quiz, “But wait…There’s more!”
The South African 4×4 & Outdoor Show will also be adding more outdoor sections and additions to their popular event, to cater for their increasing demographics of family-goers of all ages, genders, and sexes. This year will also boast an impressive new leisure boating and marine watercraft section too!
For the Adventurous
For the men, there will be the latest 4×4, 4×2 and SUV vehicles on display. There will also be outdoor trailers, caravans, rooftop tents, camping gear, motorhomes, boats, awnings, tyres, aftermarket camping and caravan accessories, fishing equipment, braai accessories, hunting gear, ATVs, bikes, quad bikes and much more!
Ladies, Gear Up!
Wives are encouraged to support and participate in their husband’s outdoor addictions. For the ladies, there will be apparel vendors, beauty providers, beauty accessories and cookware products in abundance. So, to be sure that your husband spends as much time at your favourite stalls and activities with you – be sure to retain ownership of his credit card at all times.
A Thrilling Line-up
With much excitement and anticipation of the event ahead, we have received a comprehensive list of activities that will be on display from event organiser Alan Cawood at the South African 4×4 & Outdoor Show this year.
What Makes this Show so Special
It is the only show of its kind in Africa where the general public can test the latest 4×4 & SUV vehicles on the famous Zwartkops tracks:
- Test Drive Track: The public can test drive themselves or sit as a passenger on the Racetrack
- Skidan: for the public to experience how to handle a 4×4 or SUV in wet conditions
- RC Track: Come and use your remote control skills
- Obstacle Course: Sit as a passenger and experience your capability
- 4×4 Track: Test your skills and tackle steep inclines
This year’s event will boast a test drive track for new motor vehicles on display, a 4×4 track, skidpan, radio-controlled (RC) track, obstacle course, helicopter rides and a live military demonstration too by the SASFA (South African Special Forces Association). The South African Special Forces Association will also be doing the Recce Bash. The African Snake Bite Institute will also be on display as they will provide entertaining and live snake shows for adults and kids. Additionally, for the kids and children, there will be camel rides, simulators, fun rides and plenty of other activities too. This event also caters for many delicious food and drink vendors that accept card or cash payments. The beer garden is reserved for adults and children over the age of 18. Various popular live bands will also be performing throughout the event.
The South African Special Forces Association will test their skills with the Recce Bash, weather permitting, and will parachute from the skies. The Pro-Patria Museum will also be on display. The Parabats Veteran Organisation will also be on display. Military Collectors will also be at the show displaying their special uniforms and weapons.
Endorsements and Limited Opportunity
This show is endorsed and supported by their headline sponsor Apollo Tyres, which forms an integral part of the SA4x4 community here in southern Africa. We are particularly interested to see what new products this leading brand will be showcasing during the weekend festivities. The show is also supported by Victron Energy, Kamp-Mal, Lekker Kampplekke, Kampeholics, Toyotaholics, Royal Elephant Hotel and the Beeld newspaper. The show mascot has been rigged out by Apollo Tyres, Rockford Fosgate, Bushtech Overlanding Accessories, Tough Dog Suspension, Opposite Lock 4WD & Vehicle Accessories Africa, Custom Leisure Tech, Basically Branding, A-Line Wheels and Victron Energy SA.
.
Remember, there are only two shows permitted each year to exhibit at Zwartkops Raceway, namely the South African 4×4 & Outdoor Show and Cars in the Park, which is a popular vintage and classic car expo. So be sure not to miss out on this event, as it’s guaranteed to be a fun family day out and about! Our recommendation is to ensure you get there early to make the most of all the activities and events that are on display. Just make sure you bring your sunblock and credit card so that you can take part in all the festivities.
