The guide also aids in the identification of stars and constellations that can be seen from Southern Africa.

The introduction to Sky Guide Africa South 2016 explains everything from how to use the book, to how to stargaze accurately.

Each new section comes with a definition of the particular matter being discussed (such as a meteor), pictures or labelled diagrams to aid in the explanation, and extra information regarding the particular matter, such as descriptions of meteor showers and how to predict them.

The guide shows the upcoming year’s planetary movements, accompanied by predicted events of the night sky that change annually.
