The tough-as-teak Conquerors are easy to set up. It literally takes five minutes to set up this well-designed travelling home. I hadn’t forgotten the procedure from my trip up to Van Zyl’s Pass.

The Comfort model is one of Conqueror’s best-selling trailers in the range. Setting up the tent reveals a king-size bed (2.1m x 2.1m) up top, and a large living area down below, which has enough space for a double bed or two single stretchers. There are numerous storage compartments inside.

But it’s the outside kitchen that really blows your mind – the L-shaped kitchen slides out on a robust drawer system, providing work space, a fridge/freezer, crockery slide-out shelf, Dometic stove, wash-up basin, and more.

All the tents are made of military rip stop canvas, and the trailer also comes with 220v and gas-operated geyser, 150-litre water tanks, and an intelligent powerpack – 20A, 14.2V with 220V inlet, extension and plug point.

The Conqueror Comfort is built for the toughest conditions on hot-dipped galvanized chassis beams, 2.5 ton solid beam axle and leaf springs, run-in braking system, and heavy-duty shock absorbers.
