More than 248 000 visitors from 69 countries, 214 000 square metres of floor space, over 600 exhibitioners… welcome to Caravan Salon 2018, the world’s largest trade fair for caravan and motorhomes.
The 57th edition of the show in Düsseldorf, Germany, took place from 24 August to 2 September, and according to Joachim Schäfer, outgoing Managing Director at Messe Düsseldorf, it was the biggest show they’ve ever had!
Schäfer says: “We are delighted with this new record (visitor numbers) and see the high visitor turnout as confirmation of the outstanding collaboration between the exhibitors, the Caravanning Industry Association and our trade fair company.”
Caravan Salon Director Stefan Koschke says the show has proved that the international caravanning industry is alive and well: “The mood in the halls among both exhibitors and visitors alike was excellent… It was also striking to see even more young families with children taking an interest in this form of holiday-making.”
Hermann Pfaff, President of the Caravanning Industry Association, adds: “The high spirits among manufacturers, exhibitors and customers as well as first-class sales figures are evidence of the enormous and constantly growing popularity of caravanning.”
In total there were over 2 100 caravans and motorhomes; exhibitors displayed technical equipment, camping accessories and outdoor gear, while campsites, motorhome parks and travel destinations were also on show.
What stood out at the 2018 show was the increased interest in technical equipment, detachable parts and installations. This year saw the second “Technology” hall debut with exhibitors of technical furnishings and accessories .
Bernd Löher, General Manager at Dometic GmbH, said: “We clearly felt that caravanning as a form of holiday-making enjoys ever more popularity and that its international flair has increased.”
