Summer holidays mean relaxing on warm, sandy beaches before taking a dip in the cool ocean water. It’s a time for picnics in the forest and sundowners with a sea view. It’s a time to rediscover nature, and reconnect with the family. It’s time for the KZN South Coast!
The Paradise of the Zulu Kingdom has a number of top caravan spots and campsites alongside the 120km golden shoreline, and its beautiful swimming beaches are open and ready for holiday visitors. In fact, six of these beaches have the international Blue Flag Beach status (the highest number in the province!) with another five gaining Blue Flag pilot status.
That’s not the only record… the KZN South Coast also has the highest number of tidal pools for protected bathing, with incredible rock pools for the little ones to explore. The region is home to two of the world’s top dive sites at Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks – two of three Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) found here – where you can dive among sharks, rays and a kaleidoscope of fish.
If you’re in the mood for a hike, trail run or cycle, you’re spoilt for choice with the KZN South Coast’s many nature reserves renowned for their incredible trails. Catch a sighting of some of the area’s unique birds and wildlife before picnicking alongside a river, lagoon or waterfall.
End the day with a sundowner at one of the many whale viewing decks and watch the antics of the migrating humpback whales and playful dolphins.
They are #SummerReady on the KZN South Coast!
