A tranquil and secure resort away from the hustle and bustle of the city life, where you wake up to the sound of birds… welcome to Paradise.

We are celebrating our 35th birthday this year in July! Come and enjoy a 35% discount on all accommodation, caravan and tent sites during the July school holidays. Minimum 5 nights.
By Brian Jefferies

Paradise Holiday Resort was bought in July 1983 by Laraine and her late husband Ron, together with partners Anne and Mac. At the time, it was a rundown caravan park that was open only twice a year during April and December.

After they had been open for 2 weeks, the Caravan Club of SA came and removed its plaque, as the park was below standard. One month later they restored the plaque, with compliments! What a challenge it had been: lots of hard work and slogging were necessary to develop it into the wonderful resort it is today. Fittingly, Paradise is situated in an area called Canaan.

Laraine employed Ian and Belinda Kirkpatrick 10 years ago. Ian, a “MacGyver” of note, is the maintenance manager, and can turn his hand to anything from operating computers to repairing drills. Belinda runs the reception and housekeeping, and both work like a well-oiled machine. The couple have made this their life, their passion and their home.

This beautiful resort occupies a unique, elevated position with superb inland and sea views. It is situated between Southbroom and Marina Beach, just 10km south of Margate, and has a variety of the most beautiful beaches nearby. Marina Beach, which is only 2.5km away, has Blue Flag status. It has a tidal pool and lovely sea-food restaurant, and a pub right on the beach.

Paradise Holiday Resort has been graded as an “A.A. highly recommended self-catering resort”, which guarantees you and your family an excellent standard of accommodation and caravan facilities.

The resort has 40 caravan and camping sites with power points and braai facilities, which are well grassed, and under magnificent indigenous shade trees. The ablution and washing facilities are kept spotlessly clean and under constant supervision. Freezer facilities are also offered for those who need extra space. Small dogs are allowed out of season in the caravan park only.

Children are well catered for, with a lovely playground area, trampolines, outdoor chess, volleyball, a sparkling pool and a baby pool. All this is geared to ensuring great family fun; and, for your convenience, there is a laundromat as well as a tuck shop stocking ice, charcoal, cold drinks, etc.

For bird lovers, there is an abundance of species including the famous Knysna Loerie, Golden Oriole, Malachite Kingfisher and a nesting pair of Woollynecked Storks. Dassies and duiker are also common visitors to the resort.

For those who prefer to “glamp”, there are 7 luxury log cabins and 14 Plettenberg Park homes, all fully equipped and serviced daily. The cabins and large park homes have DStv points with open view decoders.

There is a dry pub, a breakfast room and a fully equipped kitchen which can be used for golf groups, etc. They specialise in spit-braai and meals on request.

The premises are fully fenced, with beams and a security gate, and monitored 24 hours a day for guests’ peace of mind.

Paradise is a stone’s throw away from a multitude of amenities such as Shelly Centre, the South Coast Mall, a host of restaurants and pubs, and more.

In addition to all of this, visitors are welcome to visit Southbroom, which offers bowls, tennis and golf on one of the most scenic golf courses in the country.
