From the moment that I arrived at Ou Skip Caravan Park, I was welcomed by huge smiles and friendly, receptive people. I was met at the gate by Elsabe Abendanon, who explained everything I needed to know about the resort, even pointing out the more popular sections of the park situated on the West Coast in the Cape, just outside Melkbosstrand.
If you are looking for a relaxing beach holiday but still want to be close to “civilization”, Ou Skip is the place for you. The resort is within walking distance of the beach and surrounding shops and restaurants, and just a short drive from the Atlantic Beach Golf Club.
Every inch of this park gives you a sense of comfort and has a great family feel. The playground for the kids is well maintained, with an abundance of grass making for a soft play surface. There are jungle gyms, swings, slides and a putt-putt course to keep the children occupied, as well as a swimming pool, trampoline and picnic area for the whole family to enjoy.
Staff at the resort are incredibly friendly and helpful, and have nothing but praise for owner Andre Delport. Take Marie Jansen, who has filled the position of security for the past 11 years.
Marie says: ‘He (Andre) is the kindest and most helpful employer. He tries to be friendly at all times.’
Then flashing a smile and showing off her brand new glasses, bought for her by Andre, she adds: ‘He has helped me in a personal capacity over the past 11 years.’
