The Destination Journey caravan, which has just been launched at the Caravan Show in Midrand, Gauteng, comes with a host of luxurious features that are sure to impress camping enthusiasts from all walks of life. Its no wonder why so many patrons at the show queued just to get a glimpse of this stunning caravanning innovation.

It was generously worth the wait!

This article will review the specifications of the new caravan and its pricing for those who were unable to attend the recent Caravan Show and most importantly, for those of us that are eager to see what a R775000 caravan can offer caravaners!

Kindly Note, there are two caravan variants in the Destination Journey range. Namely the Midnight Edition that retails for R 775 000 and the Standard Destination Journey edition that starts from  R730000.  The difference between these two variants are mostly aesthetics and cosmetics finishes, eg, black coloured tap mixers, additions of downlights, granite look worktops, larger microwaves, mirror-finished aircon unit, aluminium finishes and more.

The Destination Journey caravan is a luxury four-berth caravan that weighs 2050 kg (tare) and has a maximum weight capacity of 2400 kg (GVM). It comes with a payload of 350 kg, which means that campers can carry a considerable amount of luggage with them when they set off for their family adventure. The Payload offered has already taken into account many additional luxuries and upgrades, such as a large single standing fridge/freezer with water dispenser and airconditioning which has been fitted as standard to all their luxury Destination models. You should have no worries when loading your E-bikes as there is plenty of weight and space available for anything you seek to pack. The suspension system consists of beam axles with leaf springs, and the caravan has a double axle with 15″ tyres which is perfectly designed for many South African road conditions.

One of the standout features of the Destination Journey caravan is its length, which includes the towbar and measures 8800 mm (Just under 9m).  The width outside is 2450 mm, while the inside width is spacious 2365 mm. The height is 2650 mm, and the headroom is an impressive 1950 mm. Which makes this caravan ideal for campers with many diverse weights and heights. Yes, The pricing may be a little steep for most South Africans, however this is not your run-of-the-mill everyday common caravan. This caravan is the epitome of pure luxury and glamping across Southern Africa. It is extremely well made and robust, with only the finest manufacturing materials used. As Andre Says “ he would rather increase the price by 10% if that means his customers get an additional 50% in terms of quality and value”.

Manufacturers: Andre and his lovely wife, Daleen van Helsdingen

Sure, not everybody will be able to afford one. That’s a very obvious fact! However, on the other side of that coin lies our personal feelings of jealousy knowing that when we start seeing these on the roads or at any of our favourite campsite’s or waterholes this Easter Weekend, one thing is for sure…

We’re going to be very, very jealous and envious!

The Destination Journey is nothing short of magnificent and luxurious and permits all their customers the ability to feel like a modern day celebrity like Bok van Blerk, Rassie Rasmus or Suzelle DIY when traveling our nine provinces or beyond.

With this luxury caravan, there would be no better way to adventure and explore all that our beautiful country has to offer, while keeping all your modern day comforts and luxuries of home, with you.

The Destination Journey caravan is not the biggest caravan manufactured in our country, and is only preceded by one other model, the Destination Dream. For more information or to enquire on the Dream, click here. There are smaller units available, namely the Destination Magic, Nature and Wish. For more information on either of these caravans, kindly click on one of the links below:

Magic

Nature

Wish

If you’re looking for a smaller sized two berth caravan in the same calibre as this Destination Journey, we encourage you to read our Destination Magic by clicking here OR Destination Nature reviews by clicking here. They range from around R550000.

Lastly, we must also make special mention that Andre and Daleen are actively seeking all qualified engineers, mechanics, labourers, carpenters and other trade craft men and woman to join their winning team, as their only challenge is finding additional staffers that are as passionate about building luxury boats and caravans as they are. Any shares or forwards would be greatly appreciated.

This new Destination Journey caravan will ideally suite a young wealthy family of all ages that enjoy caravanning and exploring all parts of Southern Africa in style and without any compromises. Remember, the dinette can convert into a spacious double bed and there is also an option to install a bunk bed if a 5 berth caravan is required. Due to this caravan being larger than some alternatives, it can quite easily boast space and privacy for children and adults of all sexes and ages. In fact, we suspect that many full time caravaners will benefit immensely from this selection as you could quite easily entertain up to six guests in the dining room (dinette area) and there is a plethora of storage space for clothes and sundries in the Master bedroom. It is an extremely comfortable queen size island bed.
