It’s time again for the annual Outdoor & Adventure Expo in Grabouw! This annual and extremely popular event is held at the picturesque Elgin Grabouw Sports Club grounds.
The expo is not just another caravan, car show, flea market, or music festival, but an exciting outdoor and adventure expo for outdoor and nature lovers.
In fact, this year we have received groundbreaking news: a new caravan manufacturer will be showcasing and launching their latest build at the Outdoor and Adventure Expo. This is a 4-berth off-road caravan made from aluminium and stainless steel, called “Rooivalk,” as seen in the pictures below.
Additionally, we have also just received news that the new owners of Cara-Camp will be in attendance, as Cara-Camp has now officially been sold to All Out Caravan and Leisure.
High on the list is everything you need for camping, an outdoor lifestyle and even on and off-road SUV adventures with or without trailers and caravans, and this year also motorhomes.
Yes, a host of the latest caravans, 4×4’s and camping gear will be on show, but the event covers much more for outdoor fanatics. The expo outdoor activities include hiking, cycling, e-bikes, adventure bikes, non-motorised water sports, including diving and scuba, outdoor photography, etc.
Don’t miss out on all the open-air activities from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 November.
This family-friendly outdoor gathering offers free admission for children under 7 with free access to the children’s entertainment area (face painting, games and many other activities) as well as a free soft drink and snack pack. You can even bring your dog on a leash to enjoy the day and meet dogs of the K9 Search and Rescue unit who will demonstrate how they sniff out humans in disaster areas like the building collapse in George.
The expo boasts an adrenalin-rush electrical go-cart track sponsored by Greenworks – for free! Greenworks will have a comprehensive display of all their 4×4 electrical equipment and mobility products at the purpose-designed track.
The expo opens Friday at 12:00 until 18:00, Saturday from 08:00 until 18:00 and Sunday from 08:00 until 15:00.
A wide variety of SUV, 4×4 and caravan and trailer dealers, including some introducing brand-new models (which have not yet been seen on local soil) as well as numerous other dealers offering all kinds of camping and off-road gear, will be on show at the expo. You are also welcome to enjoy some 4×4’ing in your own vehicle offered by Grabouw 4×4 next to the expo grounds.
Although this open-air show on the outskirts of Grabouw is mainly aimed at day visitors, 20 camping stands are available. No electricity is available at the campsites, but proper hot shower and toilet facilities will be provided.
Camping can only be booked online, so hurry up to reserve your spot (book at www.ticketpro.co.za and scroll down to Exhibitions or Outdoor categories).
As for day visitors, tickets can be bought at the gate or online at www.ticketpro.co.za; scroll down to Exhibitions or Outdoor categories. Parents won’t have to pay for children younger than 7. All tickets cost R50 on Friday (free entry for kids under 7); pensioners and older children up to 18 pay R50 and adults R100 on Saturday and Sunday.
Parking is free.
This annual family-friendly expo offers coffee vendors, and food carts selling everything from sausage saloon hot dogs, gourmet hamburgers and ice-cream cones, fried halloumi, fish nuggets and a variety of other freshly-made food on the spot, including wood-oven pizzas and much more.
A beer tent is open every day, but gin tasting only on Saturday and Sunday.
