Montagu Caravan Park – Top Western Cape resort

VIEWS

Montagu town is nestled in the catchment area of the picturesque Langeberg mountains and is home to the beautiful Montagu Caravan Park. We’ve been there on numerous occasions and each time we have been blown away by this resort. It’s a festive campsite with lots to do for the whole family. It is a privately-owned caravan park and is situated close enough to town for all those camping necessities such as food and beverages but retains its tranquility and quiet atmosphere.  The staff are friendly and booking in is easy. Its sister caravan park, owned by the same family, is the Silwerstrand Caravan Park situated just outside Robertson.

Don’t be surprised if the ducks and peacocks come and clean up any tidbits you’ve left lying around. The campsites in Montagu Caravan Park are generously sized, well grassed, and level. All have braai facilities with an electrical point. Taps and rubbish bins are well positioned between sites. This resort has strict no loud music policies and they don’t accept drunk or disorderly conduct, thereby maintaining the peace and tranquility for everyone to enjoy. Don’t forget to take along your dog, because Montagu Caravan Park is pet-friendly. To take your happy hound along with you, simply make prior arrangements with the reservations office.

There are numerous large ablution blocks situated throughout the resort that are impeccably clean and there are scullery and laundry facilities available. The showers offer gas geyser heated water, so you’ll never be left out in the cold so to speak. Montagu Caravan Park is a paradise for kids and has three swimming pools. There is a large heated pool for adults and children under supervision), a smaller heated indoor pool, and a cold water pool with an accompanying water slide.

If you want to do a bit of fishing, then Montagu Caravan Park is the place to go as there is a large dam at this resort that offers good fishing for carp and tilapia. Don’t forget to pack your rods!

If fishing is not your thing, take one of the paddle boats for a spin on the water. Alternatively, if you just want to relax, take your spouse on a walk around the dam and sit on one of the benches while the sun sets. It’s the perfect time to rekindle your romance. Another great thing about this caravan park is that your kids will spend their time riding their bicycles around the resort or playing on the jungle gym and not be on their cell phones. There is also a TV room with DStv and a playroom to keep the kids entertained.

Montagu Caravan Park has certainly got it right! The grounds are manicured, there is lots of shade from surrounding trees and the gardens are lovely. Montagu Caravan Park offers various types of accommodation as well as caravanning and camping. They offer a variety of self-catering accommodation from luxury units, to family units and backpacker huts.
