Let’s give KZN some love this summer!

CaravanSA feels the need to give KZN some love for the summer and holiday season. We say, “Experience the Zen of KZN “. Why have we singled out KZN?

This popular coastal holiday hot spot is home to some of the largest seaside and beach resorts in South Africa and is divided into both the north and south coast of Durban. Plus, their inland and midlands regions offer some of the best wildlife opportunities and picturesque settings of the famous Drakensberg Mountains.

Why does KZN need your support? Firstly, they were hit hard by the tourism closure brought about by Covid 19. Then, shortly after that they suffered from the July protests brought about by Jacob Zuma’s sentencing. When they were finally on the road to recovery, a storm proceeded to overburden their municipal infrastructure, causing severe damage by flooding in April this year.

After visiting a few local resorts ourselves, we found that many of Durban’s top resorts are still in great condition and operation. Many of the resorts have managed to bounce back unscathed. However, there is a current misconception that all Durban’s resorts are closed – when in fact they are not. And, they need your support! Remember… without great caravan parks and resorts, we wouldn’t have such a thriving caravan market and industry.

From the rolling KZN landscapes to the pristine resorts that populate the area and weather that is moderate and warm, KZN is the perfect place for holidaying all year round.

Here are 5 top reasons for you to visit Durban this festive season.

  1. Gauteng E-tolls are set to be abolished so it’s cheaper to holiday!
  2. Its cheaper for the northern provinces to visit KZN than the Western Cape.
  3. The price of diesel is set to decrease this summer.
  4. Durban has wonderfully warm waters & a moderate climate.
  5. Durban resorts offer a great variety of specials.

If nature reserves and game viewing are on your bucket list, visit Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, iSimangaliso Wetland Park, Sodwana Bay National Park, Hippo & Croc tours, Nambiti Private Game Reserve or Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve among numerous others. You’ve got to play the game to view the game.

Visit the Valley of 1000 Hills region for some breathtaking scenery and do the Midlands Meander where perfect photographic opportunities and stunning vistas abound.

If you feel like absorbing all that KZN has to offer, take one of their great bus tours, you won’t be sorry you did. There are numerous day trips on offer and for those with a desire for adventure, don’t forget the many 4×4 tour offerings.

Add safaris, botanical gardens, Saint Lucia, the Sani Pass and the KwaZulu-Natal Battlefields Route to your itinerary and you’ll be setting yourself up for a holiday like no other.

Campsites abound in the KZN, it’s simply a matter of making a booking and arriving. The resorts found in the CaravanSA website are listed below and there are many others that will happily accommodate you and family. Many of the resorts below are reviewed on the CaravanSA website.
