The large camping stands are all level and the plentiful trees offer shade during the warm Karoo climate. Each stand has its own power point, with communal braai areas, swimming pool and laundry facilities on offer. The ablutions are neat and spotlessly clean offering hot showers, baths, basins and mirrors for all to enjoy. Also on offer at Kleinplaas are their family-friendly self-catering chalets. Just a short distance from the campsite (approximately 25km) is the world renowned and spectacular underground wonder of nature – The Cango Caves. In this labyrinth of geological mastery constructed by mother nature, you will see some amazing underground caverns and caves, stalactites and stalagmites. You’ll pass King Solomon’s Mines, the Tunnel of Love, the Ice Chamber, the Devil’s Workshop, the Chimney and the Postbox in your journey through the caves. This adventure filled destination is perfect for the whole family to enjoy.

If it’s wildlife and birding you’re after, then look no further as the area teems with game farms offering wildlife safaris to view elephants, rhino, Cape buffalo, giraffe, hippo and over 200 species of bird. Visit the Meiringspoort waterfall and be sure to stop for a picnic at the beautifully maintained roadside picnic spots built from naturally occurring rock, they’re the best in the country.

The vineyards named Sandkoppies, home of Grundheim Wines, is situated just outside Oudtshoorn and is definitely worth a visit. It was established in 1858 and is a sixth-generation family farm, using their historic wine cellar, which is more than 100 years old. Grundheim is famous for its witblits made in a traditional brandy still. Grundheim also produces muscadel, port, liqueurs and potstill brandy to suit all types of palate.
