I have always been impressed with the work coming out of the Infanta factory in Buffelsjagsrivier, near Swellendam. Picking up the Enkulu 2 for this trip was no exception. My first impression was “wow”! The van is finished in a silver gunmetal grey with the black aluminium doors, large BF Goodrich tyres and aluminium rims, all of which is sure to draw attention wherever you go.

It was dark when I pulled into my stop-over caravan park near Mossel Bay. Luckily, setting up the Enkulu 2 is so simple – flick the top switch on your left as you enter the door and the roof is raised. Then push the next switch and the large comfortable bed rolls out on the right side of the van.

There’s a full-sized double-glazed window hatch at the headboard, so lying in bed you can look out over your surroundings. It’s a magic feature.

On the inside, apart from the double bed, there’s plenty of storage space behind canvas-door cupboards. A flush potra potti slides out from the foot of the bed!

I liked the one-burner stove and sink unit inside the caravan – no need to go outside to make your morning mug of coffee. And hot water on tap inside and out was much appreciated.

You can access your main food compartments from the inside of the caravan as well as the outside.

Speaking of the outside, walking around the Enkulu two you’ll notice a multitude of hatches, behind which you will find everything from a kitchen area with huge fold-down workspace (and two-plate gas stove), packing compartments, a slide-out fridge/freezer, retractable hot and cold water tap, and more!

The nose cone is big and accessible from both sides, and has a small stainless steel braai with removable screw on legs and a steel grid.

The Enkulu 2 can be extensively customized, and at the moment there are 11 different set-ups according to the client’s needs. Whether it is a slide-out bed, fixed bed with another single bed, a kitchen, a wet room, a pop-up roof or an electric roof… the team at Infanta can do it for you.
