If you really want to get away from it all, then Gouritsmond Caravan Park should be your destination of choice. It is housed in the perfect coastal setting with the river mouth and the beach converging to form the focal point of this quaint town.
If water sports are on your holiday agenda, then you’ve come to the right place, but if relaxing next to a braai fire in the neatly grassed Gouritsmond Caravan Park is too, then you’ll feel right at home. Birdwatchers will find an abundance of birds in the area and they should keep their binoculars on hand in the hope of spotting the endangered Black oyster catcher and the Cape plover.
Our stand at the caravan park had lots of shade and the trees were filled with chattering weavers building their nests eagerly, with the colourful males flapping their wings to attract the eye of any female suitors.
Gouritsmond Caravan Park is well maintained with large stands offering power and water. The ablutions are very neat and clean with hot showers, toilets, basins and mirrors. There is an outdoor scullery to clean those dirty dishes after a braai.
This resort is safe and access is through an automatic gate. Just remember to bring your own braai grid, as these are not supplied.
