    Sal 2 x Ewiks movers sterk genoeg wees om ‘n Exclusive te kan stuur en parkeer of moet jy 4 movers opsit.

    Twee sal genoeg wees net as die grond heel plat en gelyk is.

    Ek het ‘n Classique wat ‘n paar kilos ligter is as ‘n Exclusive en daardie twee motortjies sukkel verskriklik met sagte grond of grond wat ongelyk is. Jy moet onthou dat die insit krag van die motors is net 360Watt (een half perdekrag) en weens die ratkas is hulle minder as 50% doeltreffend.

    Volgens my is dit beter om die ekstra geld te spandeer op dubbel die dryfkrag en dus baie frustrasie te vermy. Die nuwe ewiks is voorsien met stroombrekers in plek vandie ouer smeltdrade, wat in een opsig help, maar die motortjies bly ewe klein.

    Ek sal maar eers  probeer met net die 2 motors, ek was bang 2 gaan gladnie die werk kan doen nie.

    As ek kyk na die Te Koop advertensies is daar maar min wat 4 movers / motors op het.

    Is daar ‘n verskil in kraglewering tussen die Ewiks en die Power Touch motors. Op my vorige wa het ek Ewiks opgesit en was heeltemal tevrede met hulle werksverigting, maar die Fleetline is darem baie ligter as die Exclusive.

    Ek het onlangs navraag gekry van iemand dat Powrtouch motors het  maar sy beheer eenheid het geblaas.  Hy weet dat ek selfoon afstand beheer vir ewiks doen, en dus die navraag. Hy het my die handleiding vir sy Powrtouch gestuur vir inligting.

    Die groot verskil met Powrtouch is die stroom aanvrag. Ewiks werk tot ‘n maksimum van 30 Ampere en gevolglik is 4sq/mm draad genoeg. Powrtouch vereis 6sq/mm wat vir my 60A beteken. Boonop is die hoof smeltdraad 125A vir altwee stroombane, so 60A lyk op ‘n goeie raaiskoot.

    Dus is die krag van Powrtouch ontrent dubbel die van ewiks. Daaby kry jy ook al die probleme en vereistes van swaar stroom – dik draade, groot battereie, and groot, sterk skakelaars. Almal geld.

    Vir my is dit genoeg dat ewiks plaaslik is, en Powrtouch het skynbaar min tegniese ondersteuning, hulle vra glo oor die R10K vir die beheer eenheid en niemand kan die ou een herstel nie. Vir daardie rede alleen sou ek nooit Powrtouch koop nie. Ewiks het sy beperkings maar die Warburgs, Pa en seun is altyd bereid om hul hulpte bied.

    Probeer gerus met 2 skuiwers, jy kan altyd 2 byvoeg as dit nodig word, en jou tegniese hulp is naby.

    Ek het Fyko se advies gevolg en toe die 4 x Ewiks movers by Klerksdorp Woonwaens laat opsit.

    Die vraag was of die movers / battery van 100aH die sowat 100 sou kon volhou om die wa met een “rit” vanaf die straat tot onder die afdak te kry. Groot was die verligting dat alles seepglad geloop het.

    Daai movers maak darem maar die parkeer werk sonder sweet en so gemaklik.

    Dis goed te hoor jy’t reg gekom Pierre, baie dankie vir die kommentaar. Die algemene terugvoering is dat ewiks op ‘n 4 wiel woonwa wel ‘n sukses is selfs met die beperkte beheer eenheid dat hulle voorsien. Ek praat nou oor die beperkte draai vermoë .

    Ek het toe maar ‘n eenheid ontwerp wat alles kan doen dat die fancy goed van oorsee het, soos SoftStart en Differential Turns deur elektroniese stroom beheer (liewer as dit net gewoon met relays deur te skakel.)  Dit  gee die binneste wiele minder (half) krag as die buitenste en dus vereis nie dat een paar wiele op ‘n punt draai nie. Vir 4 wiele is daar die X4 uitbreiding.

    Dit maak ewiks potensieel gelyk met al die ander ingevoerde goed. (Vir baie minder geld ook).

    I have an Elegance, basically as big and heavy as an Exclusive, with 4 ”Purple” movers. They  move the caravan easily, although there are two issues to be aware of. The movers themselves are very powerful .

    1. the nose-wheel is badly designed, so unless the ground is hard, the shaft of the nosewheel can dig in, preventing the wheel from rotating ( this is Jurgens issue, not a movers issue)

    2. as far as the movers go, be aware that the ”inside” wheels on a double axle caravan, when you turn, do not rotate backwards, they just slide around. if you therefore do a big turn, without moving forward or backwards in between, you can rip the inside tires off the rims ( its like a locked diff on tar).

    According to the Purpleline info that I have seen (maybe not your model) you can enter a differential turn mode by pulling the batteries out of the handset and then restarting while pressing some combination of buttons. Seems like you don’t have this model?

    It was after reading this blurb that I extended my own remote control logic to incorporate that very feature – the inner wheels ramp up to half power while the outer wheels ramp up to full power. Having the versatility of a mobile phone screen, rather than a fixed number of buttons on a handset, I can change to this mode without taking out batteries etc.

    Very recently I was in contact with an exclusive owner who was worried about stressing the rubbers in his AL-KO axles by dragging the wheels sideways during a turn where the inner wheels stand still. Having spent some time in the AL-KO workshops in Vereeniging where these axles are refurbished I can say that these rubbers will never suffer any damage from this kind of lateral stress.

    The rubbers (4 per side) are nearly a metre long and the axles can only be disassembled by heating the rubbers to destruction, and then it still takes a mighty force to extract the swing arms from the  cross-tube.

    That is not to say that this kind of maneuver is not painfully crude and very energy inefficient, but others on this forum accomplish it even with relatively low-powered ewiks movers. And for some there’s the opportunity to upgrade to a more sophisticated driver control system.

    After reading that complicated little procedure in the previous post I added a Micro-Speed control screen to my Caravan Mover remote control. It has four slider controls, 2 for forward and 2 for backwards, which give a infinite individual power adjustment range from 0 to 100% on all motors. The usual current-limiting protection still prevents over-loading the movers.

    What happened to the screen with the buttons? I was quite happy with it.

    This is not instead of, but in addition to the button screen.

    You still do the grunt work with the buttons because they are easier to operate, but for the fine positioning you can use the sliders.

    You start here, where you get the water usage and battery info, and then decide what you want to do further

    Hi Deon,

    I think it’s excellent news. This should help them increase their market share over the imports by quite a bit, it brings them one step forward technologically, which is great.  And with increased volumes maybe the price will price will even drop a little.

    And for me it a big relief personally because it takes some of the pressure off. I was doing that basic level of control about 4 years ago, but now I’ve been forced by requests from the field to add the advanced features the imports have, like SoftStart and coordinated turns through electronic current control.

    Then I added the features:

    • Motor current display and limiting,
    • Motor temperature display and limiting,
    • Individual motor speed slide controls,
    • Automatic differential turns,
    • Battery voltage display,
    • Water usage monitoring and display (2 tanks)
    • Flashlight for night operation.

    These units are quite laborious to put together and we don’t like to disappoint, so if we get relieved of the basic stuff it will help to get the sophisticated units out more quickly.
