I am busy cutting out wood rot on a 1986 Caravette 6 . I want to know with what adhesive does one use to install a new piece of 22× 22mm square frame wood to the outer skin of a pannel that has wood rot .

I also did repair and used clear silicone.

You can try using clear epoxy adhesives. What happened to the rot? You should remove it all before installing a new one. It happened to mine before, and had to use a weight distribution hitch to keep it balance.

Hope you have not yet started the job! DO NOT USE SILICONE. Silicone corrodes Aluminium. Use something like Sikaflex 252 Structural Adhesive or something similar from other manufacturers.

What Clarence said “DO NOT USE SILICONE”.
Look at the Sikaflex range of products, any specialist adhesives retail store will assist you, dont rely on your local hardware store. I telephoned Sikaflex directly and they were most helpful, your friend Google will give you contact details for a branch near you.
