Cape Town Camping Sites

We plan to travel to Cape Town area for about 2 to 3 weeks, from beginning of February 2020  but has never camped at any park in the area. Prefer one with a sea view and not too Windy – if this is possible in the Cape. The last time we did Onrus as we are doing the West Coast – we started visiting all the Towns from Hondeklipbaai South. Now we want to explore Cape Town area.

Some site’s pictures looks nice, but the reviews are no good.

Me and the wife need some quiet and secure spots as we are not that old and settled campers yet.

Any advice from old timers would be appreciated.

    Regards

    Pierre

    Hi Pierre,

Cape Town is a tricky one, because its known for having 4 seasons in one day.

Yes, Debbie is right that Chapmans Peak is a lovely resort – however depending on the months you want to travel, the Cape Doctor ( South Easterly) can be a nightmare.

The Pro’s to holidaying near the beach are obvious, but Cape Town has both warm and freezing water on each of her sides.

Imhoff caravan park is also near to Chapman’s Peak, and some have raved about it. BUT, if you look on Google maps – its right next to a large informal settlement. so i would be weary if you have anything new or shiny like a car or caravan 😉

which month are you looking at staying there?

There is a specialist caravan resort guide that comes out once per year which may benefit you. its called the Great Outdoors Guide – here is their website:https://www.greatoutdoorsguide.co.za/

Basically its a list of all the great caravan parks that Caravaners like us have voted for. its dripping with great industry information and advice.

Also – where are you travelling from Pierre?

Hi Pierre, think about the Breedevalley, e.g. Dwarsberg close to Goudini or Moreson in Slanghoek. Safe and quite.

    Thanks for the response.

Oord se instandhouding is puik.

    Kamp is koning

Fantasties. Waar was julle ander kamp is koning plekke ?

Got robbed at Imhoff and Zandvlei. Live behind solid walls and lockable doors.

Campground at Fish Hoek beach can be quite nice.

Hardekraaltjie in Bellville, Van Zylsrus in Kuils River. Otherwise the nicer one at Yzerfontein.

Muizenberg is a high crime area, not just in Zandvlei resort.
