    Hi All ,

Im new to caravaning and would like some advice. I am looking at installing a Window/Wall Aircon unit but would like to know if this unit can be removed when travelling to lighten the load of the caravan ?

    Thank you,

    Hi Dewald,

If you talking about an evaporative cooler these are light anyway so why remove it when towing?  If it is a compressor/condenser type air conditioner built into the caravan you probably can’t remove it without having to re-gas the unit, and so is impractical. If you are worried about exceeding the GVM of the caravan then look at upgrading the caravan’s GVM

Hi Dewald.I had a window wall unit fitted in a penta under the bed that only works in the winter. In the summer, and in the sun it does not work at all.On the floor and about a meter above its cold.Above that its hell hot.The van does not cool down, and thats the knly way where you can fit it.A aircon cant be fitted on the floor.Where do you suck fresh air in.Its sucking its one inside air over the condenser and will not work.Cold air does not rise.If you think how a split unit is installed. The condenser is fitted in the nose cone sucking fresh air in.Rather install a split unit.
