A fire has ripped through Midlands Campworld & Safari Centre in Pietermaritsburg, leaving little to nothing of the establishment behind.

The fire on Wednesday night.

According to the Maritzburg Sun, the cause of the fire remains unknown, although the severity can be pinned down to exploding gas bottles and other flammable equipment stored at the Campworld branch.

The fire has since been contained by emergency personnel, and the company has begun the long and arduous process of assessing the damage.

According to Caravan & Outdoor Life staffer Brian Jefferies, owner Don Lund plans to rebuild his business as soon as possible, despite losing most of his stock.

In a message posted to the company’s website and Facebook page, its management has thanked well-wishers and all those concerned, but has asked that affected customers remain patient while the mess is cleaned up.

At the same time, management says that all customer contact details have been lost. If you are one of the few affected clients, you can fill out the form below to get in contact with the branch.
