Just 2.5 hours drive from Durban or 4 hours from Johannesburg, Dragon Peaks Mountain Resort is a favourite family getaway in the famous Champagne Valley of the Drakenberg.
The resort borders the beautiful Ukahlamba National Heritage Park, renowned for its cultural and geographic significance, as well as some of the finest hiking trails in South Africa.
Accommodation options at Dragon Peaks includes camping and self-catering units (cottages, cabins and suites).
The 140 beautiful shady, grassed or paved caravan and camping sites have electrical points and three ablutions facilities. There are also brick braais available for use.
Dogs are welcome in the campsite, but must be kept under strict control, and are not to chase poultry and other livestock.
Sculleries and coin-operated laundries are also provided.
Caravaners have the added benefit of being able to store their caravans in the on-site storage facility at a monthly rate.

Dragon Peaks is well known for its large herd of 26 horses and trails.
There are four dams of varying sizes on the property located within easy walking distance from all the accommodation units and camping sites. These dams are populated with bass and no restrictions apply to their fishing. Guests need to supply their own equipment and general fishing stocks are available from the Oaks Supermarket.
For the young at heart, the resort has three pool tables, two table tennis tables, eight arcade machines and a soccer table. Table tennis and pool equipment can be hired at Reception or guests are welcome to supply their own. The arcade machines take R1 coins and change is available at Reception between 8am and 5pm.
From Joburg/Pretoria, follow the N3 south to the Bergville/Colenso off-ramp; at the top of the off-ramp turn right towards Winterton; turn left (opposite the Engen garage), onto the R600 and travel for 28 km; the resort will be on your right.
