If you’re looking for an unforgettable camping experience, then look no further than The Growcery Eco Camp in Vioolsdrift, situated in the Northern Cape of South Africa.
The resort is perched on the banks of the Orange River, and is a mere 20km from the Namibian border post. It’s the perfect spot to relax and unwind while enjoying the breathtaking views of the river.
The camp also offers a variety of accommodation options, including self-catering chalets, river view camping sites, and group camping areas.
The Growcery has a total of 14 campsites of various sizes, all grassed and with plenty of shade under the indigenous. The smallest sites are for up to six people and two vehicles, with the largest sites that can accommodate up to 16 people and four vehicles.
The sites next to the river are for bush caravans and 4×4 trailers only. If you have a standard caravan, you can pitch up on the bigger sites a bit further from the water.
Each camp has its own kitchen area with wastebins, washbasins, braai, electricity and water.
The campsites are near the ablutions (bathrooms and showers). The facilities are all neat and kept clean at all times.
Visitors will especially enjoy the open-air hot showers, which allow you to look out over the gardens and at the moon and stars!
The Growcery is known for its great hospitality, with friendly staff always happy to help. Come hang out at the restaurant and bar area, where the you can order a delicious meal. The bar serves a selection of beers, wines and spirits.
If you are making your own food at the camp, you are welcome to use the organic produce and fresh herbs from the garden. This initiative is part of the Growcery Greenery – where they produce and supply fresh herbs and salads to campers.
And it’s not just food that they grow, they also plant rare trees such as baobabs, moringa trees, fever trees and pomegranates. Check out the nursery if you want to buy a plant!
The camp also offers a variety of activities, such as guided tours, bush walks, 4×4 trails, swimming, fishing and bird-watching.
The Growcery Camp is an “eco camp”, so it’s all about recycle, re-use, and upcycle. At check-in you’ll receive a bucket for all your organic waste that you can return to the reception. This is used for their compost project.
The camp is constantly developing with the help and dedication of all our staff members. There is a positive atmosphere and energy that travelers bring along when visiting!
