From Cape Town, take the N7 north to Kamieskroon (485km). Turn right (west) into Kamieskroon, then left at the T-junction, past the hotel, then on a gravel road, then east passing underneath the N7. Follow the road for 17km to Skilpad Entrance gate. The coastal campsites can be reached via the Groen river gravel road (73km) from Garies (on the N7).
