Corian’s Caravan Resort is situated in the sea-side village of Pennington, on the KZN South Coast, 70km from Durban and 15km south of Scottburgh.
This caravan resort is a mere 90 meters – that’s about a two minute stroll – from the beautiful beach where you can go for lovely early morning walks, picking up shells, fi shing, surfi ng and swimming. If you are a golfer, Pennington has three world-class golf courses: Umdoni Park, Selborne and Penn Valley (nine holes), all within 5km of the resort.
Runners are in for a treat, with the very popular Umdoni Park Run taking place in the forest around the Umdoni Park Golf Course every Saturday morning. And, for cyclists there are some mountain Much more than just the seaside! bike trails in the area, offering wonderful coastal scenery and new challenges.
For the more laid-back visitors, perhaps wanting to eat out or do a little shopping, there is the Pennington Village Mall with a coffee shop, restaurant, chemist, OK Foods and a bottle store, only 600 metres from the resort’s gate.
Opposite the Mall is the Pennington main beach, with a tidal pool and the Impithi Kiosk where you can enjoy lovely meals and takeaways, and a playground for the kids. And, perhaps for dad, Pennington has its own brewery and restaurant, The Doghouse, only 2km away.
FACILITIES AND SECURITY
Corian’s is access controlled and fenced all around for peace-of-mind camping. Every family gets their own remote for the gate, to come and go as they please.
There are 72 camping/caravanning sites, all with their own electrical boxes. For comfort and convenience there are three modern ablution blocks with a scullery next to each of them for washing dishes, while the middle ablution block has washing machines and tumble dryers – fabulous if you are staying for an extended holiday.
IN-PARK ENTERTAINMENT
All good holiday memories include freedom for mom and dad, and for the kids to do their own thing. To this end there is the resort’s swimming pool, volleyball court, hall with table tennis tables and a children’s play area with trampolines, slides and a jungle gym.
In addition, there is an entertainment area – next to the children’s play area – with pool tables and dart boards, where new friends are made and respect earned! This is where most of the resort’s functions take place, such as bring-and-braai evenings, Christmas parties and where people come and meet their fellow campers.
For nature lovers there is a big variety of birdlife, giving twitchers plenty of opportunity for sightings of KZN’s birdlife. And, if you like a little privacy, you will enjoy the fact that most of the sites are hedged around, an unusual feature not found in many resorts.
Two decades ago owners Ian and Cornelia Clough swopped their busy lives in Gauteng for life at the seaside, when they started Corian’s (Cornelia and Ian) Caravan Resort. Not knowing anything about running a caravan park at the time, they learnt fast and with a genuine love for camping and caravanning they have adapted and improved the resort along the way. They still love every minute of it.

Directions Travel from Durban South on N2, Take Umzinto/ Pennington turnoff then turn left. At first traffic light turn right into R102. Travel 9.4 km then turn left into Pennington Drive. Follow Pennington Drive until you past the Village Mall on the left and follow the left turn into Impathle Road and 500 m further on, on the left is Corian’s Caravan Resort.
