Summit’s Karenga stood tall at the 2025 Caravan Show, returning with a smartly revised shelter setup and a full spread of practical features that speak directly to its role as a rugged, compact home for two. While the core design remains unchanged, this year’s update focuses on livability, comfort, and off-grid self-reliance – without pushing up the footprint or complexity.
The biggest change is outside. The awning, now standard, has been expanded to cover the entire length of the caravan’s flank – stretching from the nose across the side-mounted kitchen to the rear door.
More than just shade, it now comes bundled with a full add-a-room kit, including side panels and a groundsheet. This transforms the rear end – shaped into a sharp triangle – into a usable living space, ideal for cooking, relaxing, or simply keeping dry without being confined indoors. It’s a subtle shift that makes a big difference, especially for travellers tackling longer trips in unpredictable weather.

The Karenga is built for two, with a queen-size bed as the centrepiece of its interior layout. The body is constructed from aluminium, with a robust stainless-steel chassis that gives the unit its strength without excess weight. Despite its compact size, the Karenga is loaded with essentials for extended off-grid use.
The kitchen setup includes a two-burner gas stove, supplied by two 3 kg gas cylinders, and crockery for four people is included as standard. For water, there are two 60 ℓ tanks, feeding a pressure pump system that supplies a 14 ℓ geyser, which operates on both gas and 220 V electricity.
Power is handled by a 100 Ah deep-cycle battery, capable of supporting lights and basic appliances for extended periods, particularly when paired with external charging options (though none are listed as standard in the 2025 description).
The rear-entry layout remains one of the Karenga’s defining features, giving access directly into the main living and sleeping space while allowing the expanded rear to serve as a natural breakaway area – now fully enclosed thanks to the add-a-room. It’s a clever design that suits couples who want a compact unit with more outdoor living flexibility.
