Maxmo’s presence at the 2025 Caravan Show was impossible to ignore, thanks to the sheer ambition and scale of their Cheetah 7X Super Camper. Designed as the ultimate hybrid between rugged off-road capability and luxury mobile living, the Super Camper doesn’t just straddle the line between motorhome and expedition rig – it redraws it entirely.
Built specifically for Mercedes, the Super Camper was created to fill the space between rooftop tent setups and oversized truck-based overlanders. It retains the off-road clearance and self-sufficient performance expected of an expedition vehicle, with 460 mm of ground clearance between the wheels and a full hydraulic levelling system that can raise all four corners for tyre changes or sand recovery.
Its off-grid specs are staggering. The Cheetah 7X comes standard with 800 Ah of lithium battery power, 840 W of roof-mounted solar panels, and 900 W of portable solar – totalling 1 740 W. This is paired with full water filtration, a 200-litre fresh water tank, and a complete inverter system for powering appliances. It even includes a washing machine, ice machine, and air conditioning.
Inside, the design leans toward boutique apartment rather than bush camper. There’s a bathroom with a retractable toilet and a shower, a luxury basin, and a full kitchen complete with an air fryer and French freezer. A built-in home theatre system with subwoofers and a projection screen brings full entertainment on the move. The four-seater lounge converts to a 2 m queen-size bed, and a boot space in the back can accommodate bikes, golf bags or adventure equipment.
Alongside the flagship unit, Maxmo also showcased the new Sporter – a more compact, SUV-style camper built on a 6 m Mercedes chassis. It shares the same front-end bathroom layout as the Super Camper but uses its rear section for dedicated storage, making it ideal for mountain bikers, paragliders or gear-heavy travellers. It runs on a 400 Ah lithium battery, has a 360 W solar panel, and comes with a 150 ℓ fresh water tank. Despite its capability, it can be driven on a standard licence and doesn’t require a PDP.
The Sporter is aimed squarely at the active adventurer who needs high performance in a smaller footprint, while the Cheetah 7X continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in a luxury overland setup. Maxmo’s showing at the 2025 Caravan Show proves they’re not just building campers – they’re building rolling basecamps for life’s biggest journeys.
