Cascade Leisure, one of South Africa’s select manufacturers of ultra-luxury caravans, made a strong showing at the 2025 Caravan Show, introducing key updates designed to appeal to discerning travellers who appreciate high-end touring combined with enhanced practicality.

Action Offroad

Cascade’s Action Offroad represents a significant step into more adventurous territory for the brand, developed specifically due to growing customer demand, according to owner Riaan van Helsdingen. Though primarily known for stylish caravans suited to tar and gravel roads, the Action Offroad is purpose-built to tackle tougher conditions.

The Action features a 2.5-tonne axle but has a GVM limited to 1 800 kg, indicating its deliberate over-engineering for strength. It measures approximately 200 mm narrower than Cascade’s standard caravans, and the body is raised by an additional 100 mm, providing essential ground clearance for off-road use. Longer leaf springs and shock absorbers come standard, ensuring smoother towing on challenging terrain. Cabinets are all double-anchored, and locks and sliding frames have been upgraded to withstand demanding conditions.

Inside, practicality meets luxury. The king-size bed is cleverly designed as a day–night configuration, folding neatly in the centre to create a spacious dinette during daytime use. At the rear, the enclosed bathroom offers privacy reminiscent of a hotel suite, complete with a fully enclosed shower area behind a dedicated door.

Standard specifications include a 220 V fridge-freezer, gas geyser, air conditioning, a 110-litre water tank, an exterior kitchen equipped with a gas stove, a robust 4.2 kW inverter coupled to a 200 Ah battery, and two solar panels for reliable off-grid capability.

Bordeaux XL

Cascade also revealed an expanded variant of their popular Bordeaux model, aptly named the Bordeaux XL. At 780 mm longer than the standard Bordeaux, the XL transforms its interior by swapping the entry-area bench for a versatile dinette, which converts easily into a spacious single bed.

With the increase in size, the Bordeaux XL transitions from a single axle to a double axle setup, pushing the GVM from the original 1 800 kg up to 2 200 kg. Another notable improvement is the repositioning of the air conditioner from the nose to the sidewall, substantially increasing available packing space at the front of the caravan.

These practical updates underscore Cascade’s commitment to continually refining their luxury models, offering customers both the elegance and comfort the brand is renowned for, coupled with improved functionality for long-distance travel.
