Bushwakka continues to impress South African campers with a mix of rugged local innovation and premium imported hybrid caravans.
This year’s stand included the impressive new Fakawi Tribe 2, the compact yet capable Drover 13 Hybrid Camper, and notable updates across existing models like the Camelback and the ever-popular Sundowner.
Fakawi Tribe 2
Bushwakka has introduced the Fakawi Tribe 2 to local shores, a premium imported caravan built by their sister company in Australia, Bushwakka Campers. Designed to comfortably sleep up to five people, the Tribe 2 features a clever internal bunk bed system and a fold-out double bed. The pop-top roof, lifted effortlessly by electric actuators (with manual override), significantly increases internal space and airflow.
Built tough for local conditions, it rides on independent coil suspension with dual shock absorbers. The caravan boasts impressive standard specifications: a full 400 W solar setup, 200 Ah lithium battery, and a robust 2 000 W inverter. Water storage is substantial at 200 litres, complemented by onboard heating from a diesel system, ensuring year-round comfort regardless of the climate.
A key difference from typical Australian designs is Bushwakka’s choice to equip the Tribe 2 with an external kitchen and their own signature Extreme 360-degree wraparound awning. This caters perfectly to the South African preference for outdoor living spaces. Other features include glazed security windows with integrated insect screens, extensive internal and external storage, and carefully designed heavy-duty fittings throughout.
The Tribe 2’s weight comes in around 2 000 kg Tare, with the GVM adjustable between 2 300 kg and 2 500 kg, depending on the towing vehicle’s capacity.
Drover 13 and Drover 15 Hybrid Campers
Making its debut locally, the compact Drover 13 Hybrid Camper joins the popular Drover 15 to provide a scaled-down option for couples looking for streamlined off-road adventures. Despite its compact footprint, the Drover 13 offers the same level of comfort and luxury as the larger Drover 15, including a spacious queen-size north–south facing bed with leather finishing, large windows for enhanced airflow, and plenty of internal cupboards and overhead storage.
The larger Drover 15 shares a similar layout and features but provides more internal space, making it well-suited for longer journeys. Both Drover models blend luxurious touches with practicality, ensuring comfort and convenience for shorter getaways or extended tours alike.
Camelback and Sundowner Range Updates
Bushwakka’s robust and reliable Camelback camper is now available for additional vehicle types, including the Hilux single cab, Land Cruiser extended cab, and double-cab models. Built entirely from marine-grade aluminium, this expansion of compatibility means more vehicle owners can enjoy the Camelback’s durable, adventure-ready design.
The Sundowner range is also set to receive an important update – a new fold-out bed design is on its way, promising quicker setup times and easier internal access. Details are still forthcoming, but this development underscores Bushwakka’s ongoing focus on meeting customer demands for practical enhancements.
