Situated on the banks of the Holsloot River just outside Rawsonville, the exclusive campsite of Alartsoewer is the perfect getaway for those who want to escape the city life and enjoy a private camping experience.
Alartsoewer only has five camping sites, all with lovely, lush grass and water. Each site has a braai (wood for sale on site), and a ramada (gazebo) for some shade – which is especially welcome as most of the sites do not have tree cover.
There is no electricity at the campsite, but the ablution block has solar lighting.
A fantastic feature of Alartsoewer is the small splash pool on each site, which are fantastic for those hot Breede River Valley days.
Campers can also walk down to the river to have a swim in the rock pools.
The sites are massive! Alartsoewer charges a basic rate of R650 per site that includes stay for 4 people, so if you are fewer people you’ll still pay the full rate. More campers are welcome to join you at additional rates (R125pppn for adults, R75pppn for children under 12).
A total of 12 persons are allowed on Sites 3 and 5, and up to 15 persons allowed on the others.
There is one ablution block at Alartsoewer, situated close to sites 2, 3 and 4. The ablutions are about 50 metres from sites 1 and 5.
Each campsite has it’s own mini-bathroom inside the ablution block, with a flush toilet, shower and basin. You get a key for your private mini-bathroom.
Outside the ablutions is a dishwashing area with three basins.
There is a short hiking route on the farm, which takes you up above the campsite, over the river, through some forest and the vineyards.
For the young ones, if they can’t tire themselves out playing games on the huge stretches of grass, the splash pools or swimming in the river, there are a couple of tyre swings.
Excellent news for pet owners: Alartsoewer is dog friendly! So bring your furry friend and enjoy a breakaway in nature.
Rawsonville and the Breede River Valley is a well-known wine growing area, so if you want to explore a bit outside the resort, make sure to visit some of the local wine cellars.
