BassFeather Country Lodge is located near the north-eastern Free State maize-farming town of Reitz, famous for its beautiful gardens and sandstone architecture. The lodge is ideally situated for a corporate team-building weekend or a refreshing getaway from the rough and tumble of city life, just two hours’ drive from Johannesburg. BassFeather caters for every taste and pocket with its scenic, unspoilt and utterly peaceful surroundings.
Relax in one of the newly refurbished and comfortably appointed four- or six-bedroom chalets, each equipped with an en-suite bathroom, a TV, stove, fridge and microwave, or make yourself comfortable in our campsite with excellent ablution and recreation facilities available, including a community centre and big screen TV with DStv.
One of the most impressive features of BassFeather Country Lodge is its beautiful tranquil embarkment. Situated in breathtaking surroundings, it is large enough for power-boating and water-skiing, and guests are welcome to bring their boats and make the most of this prime facility. Guests might also want to try their hand at fishing, as we have generously stocked bass dams. Enjoy a long stroll beside the dam, tackle a hike, or take a walk up our beautiful koppie with its superb views over the peaceful, unspoilt terrain. Indulge in a little bird watching or spot the blesbok, zebra and black wildebeest on the farm.
Encounter our challenging golf course just 5 km from the lodge or take a leisurely 45-minute drive to the cultural beehive that is Clarens, which is home to a number of resident artists and galleries. The breathtaking Golden Gate National Park is also just an hour’s drive away, situated in the foothills of the majestic Maluti Mountains.
