We had a chat with one of the directors of Motorhome-World, Dennis Bouwers.
How has the year been for Motorhome-World?
“With the past 20 months offering up a series of highs and lows, we can now only hope that further lockdowns and restrictions are not implemented, as it has a very negative knock-on effect for business in general. Our manufacturing plant, Motorhome-World, had a full slot list of units manufactured in 2021 and we expect the demand to increase even further for 2022.”
How did sales figures reflect for 2021?
“Fiamma/Parasol topped sales records in 2021 with most gains in the SA leisure manufacturing sectors. Bobo Campers camper hire still suffers from too little inbound tourism, but slowly this seems to increase though as things revert to normal. South Africans have rented our units in large numbers and also benefitted from reduced rates. Their support has truly been amazing.”
Tell us more about Motorhome-World’s Covid initiative?
“We also supplied 30+ units to a Shoprite initiative for Covid testing and vaccine jabs. This contract has been in motion on since January 2021 and will continue until at least February 2022.”
What is the current business outlook like?
“Business in general is going through unprecedented times right now and we at Motorhome-World as well as our affiliates, Parasol and Fiamma are trying to make the best of it. These are the times that we need customer service to be the focus. Spares availability and quick correspondence response times are crucial. The supply chain logistics are as crazy as the government’s response to the virus.”

Tell us about Motorhome-World’s associated companies and your desire to satisfy your customers?
“Our staff and associated companies are trying their best to ensure all our customers get the same attention. Adding new products and suppliers to our lineup to the Southern Africa industry is sometimes difficult, but unwavering. We need to continue offering new world class products to the leisure industry. This is why we are very excited with Truma entering into a new partnership with us.”
Can you elaborate on your new affiliate Truma?
“With all this in mind, we are proud to introduce the renowned German brand Truma to our shores. Their high-end products will initially be represented by their range of 220V cooling-only roof-mounted air conditioner units. Whilst not cheap, these units are the best in the business and seen as the best roof-mounted air conditioners in the world. The first shipment is expected to arrive early 2022.”
